Mehron has me getting into some re-creations with their glow up contest! So here is my new and improved Cheshire Cat.

I started out drawing the lines of the forehead (fur) and where I wanted the smile to go. I started to paint the fur all purple and then outlined it. I outlined in purple at first but it looked off so I went over it in black. I then did my eyeshadow. Just a normal pink cut crease with some glitter! I tried to draw on some cat eye wings as well. Still getting used to that!

I brought out my pink eyeshadow all the way to my hair line and decided to accent the rest of my face in pink as well.

Once my eyes were all set I began on the mouth. I ripped up cotton balls and stuck them to the line I drew with liquid latex. After the whole thing was lined in cotton I did another layer of latex. While that dried I shaded in the fur up top for some dimension. I used a dark gray so it wasn’t too dark.

When the latex dried I painted my whole mouth black. I did 3 coats to make sure it was extra dark. Then with white eyeliner I outlined the teeth. This took me a few tries. Once I was happy enough I filled in all of the teeth.

I let all of that dry, there were a lot of layers. And started my neck and chest. This was the easy part. I took a large brush and painted on my stripes. Purple first and then pink. I also did some gray shading where the colors changed.

When the mouth area was dry, I outlined the teeth in black and did some shading. And then for the blood. I used my metal spatula to just dab dab dab the blood around on the latex and cotton. I don’t smear or smooth it out because then it just looks like dark red goop. By dabbing you get the blood effect.

Added my whiskers and highlights and some paint in my hair and that was it!
